Measure Help
NOTE: MEASURE YOUR RECESS BEFORE YOU ORDER
11 mm frames only fit recesses wider than 11 mm, we will not replace screens ordered with the incorrect frame as they must be completely remade with all new stock.
Face Fixed:
Fitted to the face of the timber window sill; generally with 11mm PVC turnbuckles – available as an Add On when purchasing your screen.
Recess Fixed:
Fitted into the recess provided by the window extrusion. These come to accommodate two types of flyscreen frames thicknesses; 11 mm (which is the most common) and 9 mm. Our flyscreens are industry standard 11 mm thick. If your window recess is 9mm we can accommodate this you must advise us of the recess width when placing your order.
Elegance Blinds PTY LTD also install spinger clips into our fly screen where requested. These can be purchased as an add on when purchasing your screen and are fitted to the screens at the time of manufacture.
1. MEASURING AN EXISTING SCREEN
Notes: Do not take measurements from the centre in case the frame is bowed.
There should be maximum of 3 mm variation in the two lengths, if the variation is greater contact us to discuss solutions (02) 82832832.
Height: Measure the height left and right, record the shortest measurement.
Width: Measure from the outer edge of the frame top and bottom, record the shortest measurement.
2. MEASURING FOR A NEW SCREEN – FACE FIXED
Height: Measure the recess height left and right, record the shortest measurement.
Width: Measure the recess top and bottom, record the shortest measurement.
3. MEASURING FOR A NEW SCREEN – RECESS FIXED
Height: Not always, however in most cases the height recess at the bottom will be smaller in depth than the top. Measure from Point A; which is the top of the bottom recess to Point B; which is the inside top of the the top recess. Deduct 2 mm and this will be your height measurement. The 2 mm is to allow the screen clearance when fitting.
Width: Again there will be variances in the depths of the recesses for different window manufacturers. Measure from the lip of the shortest side, Point A, to the inside depth of Point B. Deduct 2 mm and this will be your width measurement. The 2 mm is to allow the screen clearance when fitting.
